Using Blogging to Contribute Expertise to Your Field

Creating a regular, useful blog can advertise your organization and establish your credibility within the field. Blogs can be written by instructional designers, faculty, administrators, sales personnel, and more. Blogging provides an opportunity for you to contribute to the learning of your community. Learn five essential steps to setting up and maintaining your individual or organization’s blog. Explore best practices, learn to avoid pitfalls, and begin to create networked writing. Join us for an inspiring workshop!

 

Janine Lim, Ph.D., currently serves as Associate Dean, Online Higher Education, at the School of Distance Education, Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, MI. Dr. Lim and her team support more than 200 online courses, provide training for faculty teaching online, and work with the campus infrastructure support of online learning. Her department also provides educational technology and Moodle support for faculty and students. In addition, Dr. Lim is responsible for the faculty and courses of the Consortium of Adventist Colleges and Universities. She has taught more than 15 unique graduate educational technology classes online over the past 15 years, with some classes attracting participants from all over the world. Her undergraduate teaching includes social media courses for communication and digital media majors. Dr. Lim has served on the Board of the United States Distance Learning Association since April 2015.

Prior to her work at Andrews University, Dr. Lim coordinated distance education for 22 kindergarten through 12th grade (K-12) school districts in southwest Michigan for 14 years. In that position, as one of the co-founders of TWICE, Michigan’s K12 Videoconferencing Organization, Janine has spearheaded popular international K12 videoconference projects such as Read Around the Planet and MysteryQuest. While still serving on the board of TWICE, she was instrumental in designing and implementing the CAPspace website for collaborative videoconference projects. Dr. Lim also served on a team of Michigan educational technology trainers providing a workshop called ATA Technology Academy.

Her current online learning research interests include successful teacher behaviors, quality online discussions, and student activity patterns in self-paced courses.

International Forum for Women in E-Learning
December 2016

The International Forum for Women in E-Learning (IFWE) will include open discussions, a voicing of ideas, and a number of presentations involving conversations that include audience participation. It is designed to tap into the resources of the attendees as well as other experts in the field of e-learning.

This forum will offer an opportunity to share ideas, learn about e-learning programs and products, discuss issues, and gain a better understanding of being a successful leader. It also provides attendees with a wonderful opportunity to establish new relationships and contacts, find a mentor or become a mentor, and visit with old friends involved in e-learning. The format of the event allows attendees to learn about relevant topics from many different points of view. This event will provide attendees with the opportunity to listen, think, talk, network, reflect, dream, and learn.
